The Time Has Come

*Warning* - The first 3:20 of this vid are NOT important (sorry Maze). Fast forward to that minute mark and let it ride.

Now, yall should already know what this is, and if you dont, shame on you.

2 of THE MOST anticipated retro releases of a Jordan ever.

December 19th, 2009 - White/Red Jordan Retro XII

December 23rd, 2009 - "Spacejam" Jordan Retro XI (yes, they changed the RD AGAIN, from the 23rd to the 24th, and back to the 23rd again)

Both are general releases but DO NOT SLEEP on the Spacejams. That is all.

Onto the footage.

Air Max 1 IDs

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Got in my first pairs of Air Max 1 IDs yesterday.

Been waitin on these to get made for a solid month now. I managed to place an order the second day they were up on NDC, and they just came in.

Now, these arent the pairs I mentioned last post, that got done up at NTNY, these were pairs I had made on my own prior to that. I like the air max 1 and ID color palette THAT much, I plan on ordering HELLA pairs. 2 in, 2 more on the way, and I plan on creating some more colorways.

One of my first ones was "Turbo Pink" am 95 inspired, shown here..
(I've always wanted a pair of these, but dont have the heart to wear some '01s. Im thinkin theyll fall apart on me before I really get to use em)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Now, the shade of grey offered on the ID palette wasnt the same as the original 95. Even though I knew that going in, they didn't come out exactly like I'd hoped but Im still pleased with the end result.

These? Classic colorway inspired, nothing more need be said. I think they came out great.

A trip to the Studio

This entry isn't going to be like most of my other ones. This is actually what went down yesterday when I went into Manhattan with Hannah. Some things went down that caused me to look at things different, and I wanted to write about it.

(Disclaimer: It's a long read, but a worthwhile one)

Last night was real interesting.

I had made plans w/ Hannah after work to hit up the NikeID studio at Niketown NY. She been askin me for a minute what do I want for Christmas, and like on most other gift giving occasions, I tried to be politically correct and tell her that it doesnt matter, lol.
Well she kept asking and I finally told her, you wanna do somethin dope? Let me ID some shoes at the Studio, and we were out (they take about a month to get made for those of yall that are wondering).

On the train ride there, we came across a guy asking for change, who said he was homeless. If you've been on the NYC subway more than once or twice in your life chances are you've come across someone in a similar situation.

Now, having taken the train so many times before, I've admittedly built myself up to pretty much not pay attention to these cats. Most of the people I see in the train cars do the same, for whatever reason.

The Gods honest truth is that last night I had NO cash on me, change, nothing. But after we got off the train and headed towards 57th street, I started talking to Hannah about how I don't usually acknowledge the people I encounter like that in the subways, but that I really want to change that. Mostly because of this past Saturday night when I was waitin on the platform by the R and saw a dude give a man who was asking around, some extra change. I've seen people reach out and spare a few bucks before, but that time it just struck me as different. And so I spoke to Hannah about how lately I've been jus looking at things differently, and that from now on I'll spare some dough whenever I have it in my pockets. Earth-shattering news? Not exactly, it was something I couldn't stop thinking about.

So we get to NTNY, and head upstairs to the studio.

As we're on the escalator heading upstairs, an employee behind us notices my red St. John's hoody (yea I still wear it from time to time).

Dude: St. John's? Nice, thats my alma mater.
Me: Word? Thats wassup me too, when'd you graduate?
Dude: '05. You?
Me: This past May. Staten Island campus. You probably went to Queens right?
Him: Yea man. Thats wassup. What are you doin now? School again or workin?
Me: Workin for now, probably goin back to school next year though. Im workin at Nike actually, out in Jersey.
Dude: Word? Lemme guess, sports management major right?
Me: Haha, yea, you too?
Dude: Yea man. You intern anywhere?
Me: Yea, with the Knicks and Rangers at the Garden. What about you?
Dude: Yea, I did one with the Mets. It was great. Shit aint easy though yo, 4 years after graduation and Im workin here. Keep bustin ya ass man, and work hard, its what you gotta do, you know?
Me: I feel you bruh. Appreciate it. Be good.
Dude: You too.

The convo finished as he got off the escalator and we continued up, but I thought that was an interesting discussion to have with someone, who's in a (somewhat) similar position to me, even though he may be a few years older. Let's me know I aint the only one, you know?

Anyway, after that we finally reach the studio.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I've passed it many times before, but this was the first time I stepped foot inside, and it was dope. Different displays of all the shoes offered on NikeID, in different colorways, with sample strips of all the colors and materials offered. TOO official.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Hannah and I do what we gotta do, design some Air Max 1s, and in about a month hopefully I'll have my pairs. I'll post em up with a quality review when they come in.

We split after that.

On the way back to the train walking up 57th street, Hannah stops in at a Starbucks.

Dude that takes her order and rings her up turns out to be a real funny cat. Makin jokes about what she's ordering and that they dont have anymore, and all that. He ends up chargin her the smallest size instead of the larger one that she ordered, so that she wouldnt have to break a 5.

No big deal right? But think about it, dude aint know us from a hole in the wall, he didnt have to do that.

Then, dude hooked ME up with the same thing Hannah ordered, for free.

I turned around and he was like "here you go man". I said, "word?"
He said "Yea dont worry about it. Probably wouldve ended up gettin rid of it anyway, and because you guys were laughin at my jokes. Alotta people don't get my sense of my humor but you guys appreciated it"

I told him thanks yo, I really appreciate it. Karma gon' come back around bruh. Take care.

Crazy way to end the night, I thought, considering how it started and the conversation I had with Hannah on the train about giving money when I can, to those brave enough to ask for it.

On the night before Thanksgiving too.

Count your blessings and be thankful for ALL that you have. I know I am.

Stay up and God bless.

"Hope is Fading Fast"

Rumblings are circulating around the 'net about Freshjive's new shirt shown in this picture...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Freshjive is basically a streetwear brand thats been out for a while now, and this shirt is supposed to help launch their new "logo-less" line (their shirts usually have Freshjive easily visible somewhere on them).

This should definitely get people talking about it.

I think the concept is VERY interesting, and should be recognized as such regardless of whether you were for, or against, President Obama.

The shirt is supposed to send a message regarding the lack of change that has taken place since President Obama was actually inducted into office.

I like the picture, simply from an artist standpoint, but don't know if I'd wear it because I PERSONALLY don't agree with the message (yet). I do see where they are going with it though. What do you think?

Peace and Love.

Livestrong Air Max 2009s

I'm a HUGE AM 2009 fan, and a big fan of the Livestrong color scheme.
With that being said, naturally I was looking forward to these since pics first surfaced about a month ago.

Well they just dropped and they are FIRE.

They hit Niketowns this past week, and should be hitting Finishlines soon. Supposedly they're limited to those 2 stores only, though.

These instantly became one of my favorite pairs in my collection as soon as I brought them home.

Lil Wayne Documentary

Came across this today.

Apparently news been floatin around for damn near a year now, that this documentary on Lil Wayne was going to release, but this was the first I've heard of it.

A couple different trailers were put out, but from my understanding, this is the first official 10 minutes of the film.

In my opinion, regardless of whether or not you're a fan of Wayne, it seems interesting. I'll be on the lookout for it in the near future....

Stay up and God bless.

Super Mario Bros. Wii

I consider myself a somewhat knowledgeable video game fan, but for the most part my interests are restricted to the annual Madden, Fifa, and NBA 2K, along with every Call of Duty.

Outside of that, I dont mess with much other than the occasional "game of the year" type joint that received such good reviews you cant help but see what all the fuss is about (ex. - Uncharted).

Peep this.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It just released, and I had no idea it was comin out.

It looks like a good time.

Who HASN'T played the original Marios Bros from back in the day? It's the defintion of the word classic. To try and replicate it for a "next-gen" platform from today's world is a dope idea, in my opinion.

Shout to my homie Erina for havin the OG Nintendo all throughout college. I think it's having played the OG Mario Bros. on there a couple years back that got me excited about this game.

Personally I dont have a Wii, I'm a PS3 (and 360) man myself, but my girlfriend Hannah and my sister both have the system. You best believe I'm convincing one of em to cop.

D. Wade ethers Varejao

No background story here. You all know who D. Wade is.

Cavs played the Heat last night, in Miami.

And this went down in the first quarter.

I made a stank face after it happened. You probably will too.

Incredibly Inspirational

If you're a fan of Will Smith, or if you simply like watching inspirational pieces, you owe to it yourself to check this clip out.

Hell, even if neither of those apply to you, you still owe it yourself to watch this in its entirety. Believe me, it will NOT disappoint.

It WILL inspire you.

It WILL put you in a positive state of mind.

It WILL make you want to work harder.

It WILL be worth the 10 minutes. Trust.

Clark Kents Top 50 AF1's of All Time

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Came across this feature on TheShoeGame.com.

Most of yall have heard DJ Clark Kent's name before. Dude is heavily affiliated with Nike and is known these days mostly for being a sneaker connoisseur. Air Force 1's are his main thing, and Nike lets him make his own designs every now and then.

Some they release to the public, and others they dont (although a few pairs still end up making their way out into the world).

Although a couple pairs of his have been decent design-wise, some havent. Every one has different tastes though so I may be in the minority with that opinion, but one thing that pretty much everyone will agree with is that dude has immense knowledge when it comes to AF1s and their history.

This is his list of the top 50 AF1s ever. I thought it was a VERY interesting piece, even for people who may not be heavy into air forces, but like sneakers in general. There's some real classics, from stashes to linens to cocoa snakes to entourages to campers.

Follow the link for the article, and the list in its entirety.

http://theshoegame.com/articles/dj-clark-kents-top-50-af1s-of-all-time.html

Im not into air forces like that personally. I only own 3 pairs, 1 of which are some black suede/white swoosh mids from '04, along with my waterproof lows, and my personal favorite and a grail of mine, the black/white sole/double swoosh NYC lows (easily #1 if I were to make my own top 50).

This is an old pic of mine, fitting considering the topic...Definitely one of the few pairs in my collection I couldn't see myself moving...

A nice little mini-reunion

So I took a trip out to visit my "old" campus earlier tonight.

For those of yall that dont know, I graduated undergrad this past May.

One of the organizations on campus, P.A.C.S.A. (Pan-African-Caribbean-Student-Association) is run by one of my homies who's still there, Drae, and a couple other heads. They were hosting a fashion show event tonight.

Went out there to show support, as well as link up with a bunch of my peoples that I graduated with, and havent seen since May.
Figured it would give us a nice opportunity to see each other again.
Some people couldn't make it, and they were missed, but it was nice catchin up with those who did make it.

Show was good. Wont get into that too much, just wanted to write a quick entry and post up a pic from tonight. Seein the people in this pic remind me of what were the best 4 years of my life.

Everything everybody says about college, its all true. The good stuff anyway.

These "Flu Game" 12s...

look MUCH better than I initially thought they would.
Mike wore these in the '97 Finals, and they were given the nickname because of the Game 5 performance in which he dropped 38 while playing with the Flu.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Unfortunately Jordan Brand for whatever reason, decided to switch these up a little bit from the last time they came out.
I remember seeing images of these a few months back and thinking Why JB? Why ruin a classic by replacing leather with nubuck?

I love the OG black and red XII's, and while I do wish JB would have simply done an exact retro of the last release, these pics really surprised me.

Wow.

I just might be coppin.

The pics shown come courtesy of "Jordan23 4xl" of Niketalk.

Word is they drop on Black Friday, November 28th, so be on the lookout.

Btw, I could do without the little white logo on the tongue, but honestly that isn't enough to stop me from scoopin these up.

Madison Square

Caught the Knicks game at the Garden last night.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

It was my first visit of the season, their second home game, and luckily for both of us, their first dub.

They took down the Hornets 117-111, and withstood 32 and 12 from CP3 and 24 and 10 from Mek Okafor.

D-Lee did the damn thing with 28, 7, and 3 and Hughes came outta no where to put up 20 points and 6 boards in his first game in the starting lineup this year. We improved to 1-3 on the season.

Snapped a couple shots on my way to the game.

Jordan Hill got NO burn last night, and while I realize he will need some "time to develop" I would have liked to see him get SOME PT last night.
Considering dude left Arizona after his senior year and has 4 years of college ball under his belt, you would think he'd be more ready to play than some other rookies. It's still early I guess, we'll see what happens.

Go NY Go NY Go.

The final cut of the "Empire State of Mind" music video with Hov and Alicia just surfaced. Had to post it up.

You guys probably dont need me to tell you how DOPE this track is, even if you're not from New York, or never lived there, but trust that this is an instant Hov classic.

The video is on point, featuring a bunch of different scenes from all over the city, and was directed by none other than Hype Williams.

T-Will On The Rebound

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Most of yall readin this probably know who Terrance Williams is, but for those that dont, hes a New Jersey Nets rookie do-it-all guard/forward who went to the University of Louisville.

Even though I rock with the Duke Blue Devils, I've been a fan of T-Will's for a while now. Dude plays with emotion on the court, which I like, but perhaps more importantly he can fill up the stat sheet. As a 6"6 G/F he posted near triple doubles seemingly on the regular while at Lousiville, and can pass as well as rebound, in addition to puttin up buckets.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Just last night in his pro debut in the Nets season opener at Minnesota, he put up 15
and 10 boards off the bench (only 1 dime though).

Well dude is from Seattle, and apparently, had to deal with some tough times growin up.

Found this article on the New York Times site today. It's definitely worth the read. Check it out.

Shout to my boy Nate Rob too man, for being mentioned in the article.

The Cypher

I spent most of last night watching the NBA season tip off, as the Celts went up against the Cavs. To me, that was way more interesting than the BET awards, which were airing at the same time.

I tried flicking back and forth once or twice, but the BET awards really just didnt seem interesting enough for me to watch the whole thing. The two times I DID click over I saw Nikki Minaj's cypher freestyle, which to me was wack, and Fab performin "Throw It In the Bag" with Dream, I kidna like the song but watchin the performance? Not my thing.

But through twitter, I caught wind of a another "cypher" clip later in the show featuring Mos Def, Black Thought, and Em freestyling that in which (as one would expect) they put it down. Luckily I found the clip...

2009 BET Awards Cypher #3: Mos Def, Black Thought and Eminem. from Douglas Rogers on Vimeo.

What yall think?

A black, white, and red masterpiece with patent leather. Sound familiar?

A couple months back after a long hiatus from my blog posting, I wrote an entry about the Lebron VII's and how they were "comeback worthy" (referring to how they were dope enough to make me want to come back to my blog and write about em).

Well they officially dropped this Saturday, the 24th and let me tell you Nike did the damn thing with these.

The 7th shoe in Lebrons signature line (not counting his Soldier line), these joints incorporate a 360-degree Max Air Unit which Im ECSTATIC about (thats the end-to-end red bubble at the bottom of the shoe for those not familiar with the technology). Different Nike basketball shoes, depending on price point, use different technologies. Max Air, zoom air, double stacked zoom air, lunar foam, etc. They all vary in quality, durability, and comfort, among other things. At the top of my list is always comfort (more specifically cushioning) and with that big Max Air unit these VII's are about as good as it gets. They're not the lightest basketball shoe out, but I have no problem with that, so long as they arent crazy heavy, and the comfort level is good.

Nike also decide to incorporate Flyire into these, which not a lot of people were crazy about at first, myself included. Flywire, is pretty much a super strong fiber that is incredibly lightweight and is supposed to increase support, helping to keep the foot in a tighter, more stable package if you will, within the shoe. (Since its a relatively new concept, some thought it was gimmicky, and wasnt necessary for a signature shoe for a player like Lebron)

I didnt think the shoe needed it, but more importantly, I just thought it wouldnt look right. I was wrong. It looks great. Black patent leather all around the lower half. A red air bag in the sole. Black lacetips. Red flyire. White upper. Black swoosh outlined in red. Owwwwwwwwwwww.

I'll do a little write up on future colorways for the VII eventually, but for now, peep my pics of the first (and what will end up being the best) GR colorway.

THIS MAN IS A BEAST!

I havent gone in-depth on a sports topic on here in a minute, and its probably going to stay that way for right now, but only because there isnt a whole lot you can say after watchin this clip, except for maybe "Oh shit".

This was a play from the 4th quarter of the Vikings/Steelers game on Sunday (that the Steelers ended up winning, handing Minny their 1st loss of the season).

For the record, Adrian Peterson is HANDS DOWN the best running back in football. That was the case well before this game, but plays like this show you why this dude is on a whole nother level. He has excellent vision, and incredible speed, but his strength for someone playing the RB position is stupid.

William Gay, congratulations, you just got ran the fuck over.

Because we all wish it could be so simple.

Random track for the day. A true throwback.

Nike Zoom Ashiko: The Newest Member of the ACG Boot Family

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Nike just dropped this new ACG boot, the Zoom Ashiko, incorporating Flywire technology for what I believe is the first time on ACG product. Regardless, these orange joints are OFF THE CHAIN. I realize they may be somethin not everyone will like, but Im REALLY feelin them. I plan on coppin in the very near future.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This dark grey/red/black joint is another colorway, also a VERY dope color combo. Id like to get a hold of these too, but they arent available for order yet through NDC. Ironically enough I saw these in footlocker today, in person for the first time, and theyre even better up close.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I see the 2nd colorway being more widely accepted than the 1st, but dont get it twisted, nike hit the nail on the head with the execution of both of these c/w's.

The 10 Best Teams of the Decade Never to Win a Championship...

Came across this yahoo article today...wanted to copy n paste it straight to the blog, but it didnt translate well so just follow the link...

Photobucket

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/The-10-best-teams-of-the-decade-never-to-win-a-c;_ylt=AlrTw6w6fq7tfnrGMGxNO6m8vLYF?urn=nba,184569

What do yall think was the best squad not to win the 'chip from the last 10 years?

To pick the "best" team is no doubt a difficult task, but my favorite is DEFINITELY the 01-02 Kings squad. That squad was so balanced, with great roster depth, and they were fun to watch. Im not even really a Kings fan (just a supporter of that group of players when they were together) but I still have nightmarish flashbacks to when Doug Christie shot so poorly in the playoffs youd think dude was shooting with the wrong hand, and Peja, as lethal as he was, was right behind him in terms of in-efficiency in the clutch.

Damn C-Webb could pass for a big man though...I bet you Sac-town wishes they woulda held onto Gerald Wallace back then too man...What yall think?

What once was...and what couldve been...

Lemme start off by saying that I effs w/ Jemele Hill HEAVY (sports writer and ESPN personality).

I follow her on twitter, and she always spits truth and is constantly dropping knowledge on different topics in the sports world.

This was a piece she just did on Charles Rogers, who was the TRUTH at Michigan State, and was a COMPLETE bust with the Detroit Lions. I loved watchin dude in college man...him and T.J. Duckett (my favorite RB at the time NOT on The U.) were such a problematic duo it was crazy. Rogers fell off though, injuries caught him hard, then he got suspended (substance abuse), and he just straight never lived up to expectations. Such a shame man, what couldve been...

These are comeback worthy...

I aint update in so long yall, it took me a 2nd try before I remembered what my login passsword was....

I been meanin to get back into the swing of things, Lord knows I have enough time on my hands these days. Im not too sure why I basically left my blog on the side of the road...either way, first entry in a while so peep it...

These are Lebrons new joints comin out, the VIIs, the latest in his signature line.
Ive seen some teaser pics on Niketalk, but not like this. This shot here? Makes them a GUARANTEED cop for me, hell maybe even 2 pairs.

Photobucket

The patent toe area, at least from this shot, reminds me of the Concord XI's (yea I said it). Thats high praise any way you slice it. I cant wait for these to drop. Imagine the St. Vincent St. Mary's and Christ the King colorways? and if they drop a Birthday colorway, its a wrap...

Photobucket

There's higher-res pics floatin around that REALLY do the shoe justice, photobucket is really reducing the quality when I upload em.

Stay up.

My blog game done fell off...

I been slackin on my blog postin similar to how Jameer was slackin on D on Fisher at the end of regulation. Im still smh at A.) the decision NOT to purposely foul when you're up 3 and theres 4 5 seconds left and B.) the fact Nelson basically gave Fisher the open look.

Maybe I wasnt postin because the Nuggets got eliminated (I really wanted to see them go all the way) in the conference Finals, and as a result I felt a lack of motivation to post.

Or maybe it was just complete laziness (more likely) the last few weeks, which is REALLY bad considering since graduation I havent been doin much of anything except chillin and playin ball.

Oh well, I'm gonna try and get back into the swing of things.

I'll start off light, here's a clip from a "Your favorite minor characters of Seinfeld thread on NT". This Bookman dude gets me everytime. LOL.

P.S.
You know I had to drop at least a little bit of shoe info for yall in this entry, since its been a minute since I last posted.
Keep an eye out for these...the Air Total Max Uptempo, one of those throwback 90s joints that Nike never retroed until now. Heard they started hittin spots today, Im bout to get my cop on (no Nypd).

Photobucket

Photobucket

That game was off the hook last night...

Caught the Magic/Cavs game at my homies' crib...it was definitely playoff caliber basketball. I could get into a lengthy explanation about Kobe/Lebron since I havent done that here yet, but UNLIKE David Stern, I'm going to save that for if and when the finals matchup is Cavs/Lakers.

As for right now, I'll tell ya one thing, Orlando can shoot the fuckin lights out. Dwight's makin his free throws too now? Uh-oh Cleveland. Kinda upsetting too since Lebron is my favorite player in the league, but I wont be distraught if Orlando advances, Im a Dwight fan also (dont call me a frontrunner, my heart is in New York City make no mistake).

Here's a couple pics I took durin the game, messin around with the camera...

And I dont usually do this, but my wdywt pic from NT...

Sidebar,

For anybody who saw the game last night, HOW FUNNY did that preview of The Hangover look? That joint looks like straight comedy...Im definitely catchin that in the theaters.
