Breathe

September 4, 2011

One of THE most inspirational, motivational pieces I've ever seen.

"When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you'll be succesful."

Amen.

A tribute to Primetime...

September 1, 2011.

...No Deion.

Primetime, New Day, Made It In America and Murder to Excellence are my favorites off Watch the Throne.

With that being said, if you listen to Jay's word play on Primetime and tell me you don't understand why he's the best then something might be wrong with you....

Didn't catch all of that? It's cool, I didn't either at first.

Courtesy of NT's own "DeuceKing", a breakdown...

At forty-two (his current age) be better than twenty-four (a double entendre: because of his age number being flipped and Kobe's number, the Kobe part will be discussed later in the rhyme)

I carried the four-five, (a .45 caliber pistol) mastered forty-eight laws (The 48 Laws of Power book, very insightful)

Still wearing my twenty-three's (Jordans) they can't fuck with the boy
As far as them 16's (16's bars in a normal rap verse) I'm 23 (The Michael Jordan or rap, meaning the greatest of them all, also a play off of the 24 line from earlier) of it all
Prime time, ridin that six deuce (The '62 Maybach is the biggest and best Maybach you can get)

The nine-eleven (Ty Ty or Beyonce, I can't remember which one bought Jay a 911 Porsche Turbo a few years ago) I only subtract the roof
Started in eighty-eight (he started hustling in 1988 for the first time), got warm in ninety-two (he started getting into the rap game in 1992)
I landed in ninety-six (Reasonable Doubt his first album released in 1996), that's the year I came through.

Everybody look at you strange...

Everybody look at you strange, say you changed, like you worked that hard to stay the same...

Brooklyn Bridge

August 6, 2011

Went for a walk across the bridge last night and snapped a few shots. The weather was close to perfect...

New Pickup....

I've tended to shy away from copping any of the 574 colorways of each of the last few Kobes that have released (IV, V, VI)....

But these were a MUST. A BEAUTIFUL shoe. The "OC's".

"I've argued this with a lot of people in my life. When people say God blessed me with a beautiful jump shot, it really pisses me off. I tell those people, 'Don't undermine the work I've put in every day.' Not some days. Every day. Ask anyone who has been on a team with me who shoots the most. Go back to Seattle and Milwaukee and ask them. The answer is me -- not because it's a competition, but because that's how I prepare."

That's a quote from Ray Allen, who set the NBA record for most career 3 pointers made tonight, against the Lakers in Boston (and he did it wearing those DOPE white and green XIII's).

Big ups to Ray-Ray man, I have so much respect for dude.

He's one of those cats (although there aren't many like him) that even if he's on a team you despise, you can still appreciate what he does and how he goes about his business. That jumper is SMOOTH but don't think it's only because God made it way that way....

As we honor the late, great J. Dilla....

Dilla's birthday just passed. He would've been 37. Shout to the great producer, and much respect.

Here's a piece that pays tribute to James "J. Dilla" Yancey.
